OK... I'm exploring options hot-n-heavy and would like to know if anyone has taken a route through Canada from the East coast/Midwest.
If so, how was the terrain? Lots of gas stations? How many days does it take? I know about the passport but I am curious about the conditions during a summer trip.

We drove down and back up from the midwest several times. The terrain is fine (are you talking about the ALCAN?). Keep your tank half-full at all times and when you see a gas station stop and fill up. That is the safest way. A summer trip should not be a problem.

Yes I believe it is called the ALCAN, I'm learning the proper names for things. I'm exploring unchartered territory. Well my friends and I are figuring out the least expensive way to make the trip. I most likely will sell everything take a few suitcases and fly up. They want to keep there Jeep and drive it up.

THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT!

Good luck. I strongly recommend you have a job waiting or enough money saved to live on for a while if you are planning on staying. Have a good trip.

We drove from Northern Michigan to Washington and caught the ferry up to Whittier. It may have cost a bit more, but it cut off almost 2000 miles, a good rest, and wonderful ferry ride. We took US2 the whole way from MI, didn't want to drive on any freeways.

Drove down to Montana and back in May. We drove the Eastern Route via Edmonton-Calgary on the way down and crossed at Sweetgrass Montana. Coming home we took the Western Route via Lake Okanogan in British Columbia. There is a lot of construction on the West Route, but the East Route is fine through Edmonton.
