I am glad they caught it soon enough to treat Starlite9. I had my PSA and colonoscopy at age 48 and was told that I do not need another. Of all the things that could kill me, it is good to know that prostrate cancer is not among them.

Glitch, I would recheck with the doc. Colonoscopies if normal are every 5 or so years, and PSA should be done yearly as things can change...Same as for women with Pap and mammogram.

Johns Hopkins: Colon Cancer on frequency of colonoscopy
Actually, I can rule out future problems. The frequency of the test is based upon statistical averages, and not applicable to everyone. When you get a PSA test score of 0 ng/ml, and a completely clean bill of health from the colonoscopy, with no polyps, then you do not have to ever be concerned with prostrate cancer.

For the average individual, it is suppose to be a colonoscopy every 10 years beginning at age 50, and there is no consensus on how often PSA tests should be performed.

wellll now....don't want to be the ball buster but...wrong....it would behoove you not to believe what you are saying. yup I was in the medical field and know too many "statistical" cases of "not and never" that "are"...keep having the tests as our statistics are changing daily.

If you were a doctor familiar with my medical history you might have some credibility, but since you aren't, you don't. I have also been smoking a pack and a half per day for 44 years and when I had a pulmonary exam this past February I was told I had the lungs of a non-smoker. So statistical averages don't mean much to me. Everyone is different, and should be treated accordingly.

yeah I thought and believed the same thing with breast cancer years ago....according to "my well informed trained doctors".....well been there done that....no possible chance of breast cancer according to the BRCA1's .... 2001 was the wake up call with the first diagnosis that the doctors were wrong..second wammy was that they missed the second type of totally different cancer....doctors and statistics are wrong/ then was told it would not return....well 2008 was the second go around...an don't tell me that I had bad doctors as this is a leading cancer institute....all I am saying to you is " be on top of this and don't take it for as a finial never to be checked on again"

Until you get that medical degree, you should not presume to give others medical advice.

You still get to keep your rep point; all the N/A means is that the post you got repped for has been removed.
