Woke up this morning to 1" of ice on the pond our yard becomes during break up, the 6" or so of runoff is still moving under the ice, but walking around is treacherous! We sent the dog out to be our little icebreaker so we could wade out to the truck. Sun's up and shining brightly, so the ice should clear by lunch time if the temps come up a little.

My son says all the snow is gone on my garden. So I hope to get an early planting in come June. My pond still has ice on it tho.

43F and overcast/drizzly for the third day running. Supposed to keep up like this the rest of the week.

All my snow will be gone by tomorrow morning. Just a little patch left now, a few feet square. Materials to build my garden beds will be here Friday evening, in time to build and fill them on Saturday.

^ It was in the high 40's during the day here yesterday, and it was 34F here when I woke up this morning. It's now in the high 60's and breezy. Wacky mountain weather.

In the 50s and raining here today. Yesterday was clear and in the 60s. Had the windows rolled down in the car, and at one point with AC on too. It was nice.

Leaves on the trees in Seattle? Isn't that area almost all evergreen trees? A good friend of mine went to Evergreen out in Olympia, and she said that most of the trees out there are evergreen conifer types. Am I way off base here? I know it's really beautiful there with all the blooming plants though. She described it as two seasons in Olympia: rainy, crappy season, and super ridiculously gorgeous season. Sounds kinda like Alaska: winter and road construction.
