Thanks Warptman... was wondering.

So we get sunrise earlier but looks like sunset is a little later or the same. Length of day is shorter. But looks like you loose more quicker. What is length of day say end of December average?? Also guessing if in mountains it is cut in half for sun to come over hill? Thanks for the reply. Just mulling it around in my head if I could ever winter up north. Can handle snow or used to. How much total inches of snow on ground at this point in time. I realize this changes for area to area.

Again stay warm!!! Happy winter!

Mountains? The nearest mountain to Bethel is 35 miles away by air. I don't think they cut down on length of day.

Haha I didn't mean close to you. Ment someone elses area south. Thanks for the pics though. You are all over these forums! Amazing pics as always. Again irgnorant. So you freeze hard not major accumlations of snow then?all though I think I would freak out seeing ocean frozen. Just wondering with our 3ft in 36 hours or Mt Rainier record 101 inches in 24hours. The most I have had at home is 6ft... drive up MT 15ft banks driving through. Bethel what is most depth... and no I would never think I am tough enough to handle Bethel was thinking alot more south. Great to learn though.

We don't get much snow here, unlike Valdez, they get snow storms in feet. We get snow in inches. We have an inch now. Most of the snow blows in from elsewhere here, or when it dumps, it gets blown away. The tundra isn't even covered over yet, but people are still using "snowmobiles" to get around town and to the area villages. The wind does blow a lot here, making the already cold temps colder with the windchill.
