Ummm you list your location as Rhody, do you mean Rhode Island?
If so you really need to look into turning on the heat or moving to a place that has it.
Good luck

LOL Blues I don't believe you would find it cold nor do I. Myself I like it cold and brisk. (love that word brisk to describe the crisp bite of the cold). I have the heat on and keep it at about 58-60 at night and pushing 65 when I'm home and up (and that's pushing it!)
Figure the dog has fur, the aquarium has it's own heater and I have socks!

What I meant is living in an uninsulated house without heat on as the OP seemed to be saying, combined with the cold winter then most people would have to turn on the heat. If for the sake of the plumbing alone to keep the pipes from freezing.

Problem down here is the old homes and victorian homes are absolutely beautiful but....turn the heat on and your heating the outside!! very spendy to live here, taxes, heat, everything plus 13% unemployment!!! We love going home to MA and our house!! this will be soon over and I'll be on my way this summer to AK!!

Real Alaskans would have to open the windows to be able to sleep well in Rhode Island LOL!

Thanks people, I never thought to put a space heater in my bedroom and close the doors- don't mind sleeping in the cold but a bedroom in the 40's is a bit much.

Saw that yt vid today about how moose like to prance around back yard sprinklers in Anchorage. You can't tell me all those big suburban homes are cold, are they? Not with all the oil you guys have.

Also- marriage rates for men in Alaska are higher than any other state- so that's keeping you warm too.

We ship our oil out of state and have to pay extra to get it back but we do have insulation.
