F plates, get the "F" out of the way! I've had my plates for two years, they start with E...What does that mean? Oh, I'm a life long resident, too.

Geeee, You all seenm to be quite hard on the new commers moving to Alaska. I spent 6 yrs in northern Idaho back in the 70's living in a log cabin that I build out of trees which I fell during the spring and summer. It was a 20' by 40' and it was all hand built it even had a loft. Had to haul my own water and used a 12 volt battery for power the out house was built out back, LOL. Would hunt my game and fish, even would ice fish with a piece of boot leather for bait. I have raised three children who are now young adults whom were all home schooled and now they are all grown and gone raising there families. I was up in Ak this October for a job interview and wanted to see what in was like during the coming winter months because I do know how some one can fall in love with a place of beauty during the summer and then become discouraged during the cold long winters. I had to move to Ca for that reason. Now it is time to get back to a life in which I can enjoy. Wife is gone now and I am ready for another adventure where I can enjoy myself LOL. I do hope that I am excepted for being a out of stater or a "Pilgrum" to some of you locals, which is what we used to call all the yuppies that moved to Idaho back in the 70's LOL.

Alaska looks pretty on postcards - all that snow. But if you're not used to digging yourself out of your house whenever you need to get a gallon of milk, it's discouraging. And you dig yourself out of your house EIGHT freakin' months out of the year! I've traveled all over and lived quite a few places, but Alaska is a huge pain in the tush. I have to do what, plug in my car to keep the oil from freezing? When I'm at the mall, searching around for an outlet in -20 degree weather? Get docked at work because I can't get to my car because there's a moose in the drive? Buy a new car each year because the winter tore the last engine up? Pass, pass, pass ...

Not recommended for those who want an easy lifestyle.

Where in North Idaho, just curious? Winters can be nasty, but not really interioresque.
All this snow is starting to bug me, though. We've got like three feet and it just keeps frickin' coming!

Hi Xa'at. There's more snow at my place in Oregon than there is in this part of Alaska. But you already know it ain't all snow. When are you coming back? Were you on the plane with me tonight?

I'm at the Narrows in Ketchikan with free wi fi and no wine thanks to Alaska Airlines and their beastly policies so I'm going to catch up on terrorizing city-data...
