Wow! How common is lightening/T-storms? We're coming from the southern Atlantic coast so T-storms are very common here, one of the perks I told the kids about our relocation was Alaska wouldn't have as much lightening. Oops!! Bad Mommy...

The interior gets more as you can see in the picture. South central does get some...but not so bad. Heck last summer I saw lightning on the slope! And I've already had hail at my house 2 weeks ago.

It's pretty rare here in South Central. Most of the time we aren't warm enough to generate the thunderheads.

There is a Floridian that said they just got hail down there (in Florida) yesterday in another forum.

I was in Fairbanks a few years ago and I do not know how hot it was but it was up there. From what I understand, Fairbanks has the most extreme temperature range in the world. -50 in winters to almost 100 in summers.

Default Some interesting info...

The lightning strikes from yesterday. Looks like the peninsula got a few already this year!

And from today. Looks like the north coastal plain has got some today!

The current active fires in the state as of today.

And last but not least...the current earthquake locations for the last 24 hours

I love this place!

Wow, I didn't know there was so much lightning up here. I haven't seen any where I live (Soldotna).

And temp-wise it was 74 here today. Absolutely beautiful.

The other day...we had over 3000 strikes. The interior gets hammered pretty good every year.

You're still looking at a land area as big as 25% of the lower 48.
