Can anyone give me any information on the Griswald Heights Apts in Troy NY.? I have family moving out that way and they were told of this apt. complex. Wondering if safe area, especially for children, schools in area, and general neighborhood ?
Thank you for any info............

To say it's a rough area would be an understatement. It's one of the housing projects for Troy. Twenty years ago it was a dump and just gone down hill. I wouldn't let my dog live there, but there are people who like it for whatever reason. There are some interesting reviews if you Google it.

ss20ts.......thanks so much for your response. Hopefully they are now reconsidering this place. I did try to google but didn't come up with much as far as reviews on it. I was also trying to check the police logs and sex offender lists to see what I could find there.
Again, thank you.........

Before I started my own business, the company I worked for would not make deliveries to that complex. I figured nothing could be that bad & if I got an order going to Griswald, I would take it. Almost like an omen, I got my DBA the same day some poor pizza delivery guy got robbed & stabbed there. Heed the warnings, for sure.

Over the years, there have been numerous write ups about the place in the Troy Record and Times Union which are the local newspapers. If you have a police scanner, you'll hear about the place far too often.

Here's some reviews of the place. They're a couple of years old, but nothing has changed there. The first one must have been written by a politician! I've NEVER heard anyone say anything nice about the place. I have a lot of family from Troy and none of them will go near the place.

They're welfare apartments. No one wants to live there.

They've been the scourge of Troy for at least 40 years. Everyone I've known who lived there was on Welfare--or would have qualified for it. NO ONE lives there by choice.
