How about The Lofts in Cohoes? They are in some of the old mill buildings along the Mohawk River, I am pretty sure they allow pets, and while the rents are more than 800.00, they are pretty much all inclusive. If I were looking for a place I would definitely be checking them out!
What's been decent is that it isn't just growth, but there's been some revitalization of existing facilities. The Times Union Center has an enclosed area now with a Johnny Rockets restaurant. They're still working on the sidewalk/Pearl St area. They did tear down the abandoned buildings behind the TU parking lot and built the Convention Center. Been in there once, looks good. Too bad the TU parking garage is still hideous with rat traps outside the doors, although the walkway is well lit and has ac and heat now. The Renaissance Hotel was renovated and turned in to a nice place. Attended a function there, impressed. The old Worker's Comp office building is being converted in to apartments - just remember if you're on the ground floor to close your bathroom door. I've noticed a lot more activity with young people out at the bars across the street from the hotel and Convention Center. Just gotta give them a warning that breaking for pedestrians is not one of my strong suits.
