I know one thing. My savings on property tax alone out your way would cover all the rest of my utilities!

My cousin sold his house in Newtown, CT, 4 years ago 'cause the property taxes were going to $1000/month. I'm sure they're even higher now.

I want to thank all of you for this information. Also the City Data individual town/city sites have a cost of Living calculator. According to that most anywhere in New Mexico, Albuquerque, el Paso) the COL is about 60% of where I live in southern New Hampshire.

We are visiting T or C at the end of April to thaw out in the hot springs from this past winter. I think we will also check out some real estate while we are there.

Late April in NM can go to extremes. It can snow, it can be rainy, or it can be hot, or anything in between. One year I had a friend visit from Boston in the last week of April, and it turned out that it was colder here than Boston that week and even snowed a little. I hope you fare better! The long-term models predict above average moisture for April, but that is a good thing when you live here.

Water/sewer/trash: $58-$95 (winters summer)
Electric: $65-$80
Gas: $22-$68

Same each month including tax:
Internet --$63 Comcast w/boost
Direct TV $69 (for 10 more months -- then renegotiate again)
Car insurance: $260/month (over 3k year!) 1 car 1 truck full coverage $300,000/300,000 w/$250 deduct, and one car liability only (teen driver). Will be adding another teen driver this summer (gulp!) no adult at-fault accidents in 10 years, but 2 fender benders within 6 mo for teen
Homeowners insurance: $71
Property tax: $209 (1800 sq ft NW side)
