Water, sewer, and garbage is paid for by the landlord (i'm in a 650 square foot duplex). Also keep in mind that my duplex has very very old windows that are very very drafty.

Electric: Summer--with swamp cooler running almost 24hrs a day, electric is about $55 monthly. All other months are from $20-$30.

Gas: Winter--three months of heavy heating is about $80-90. Thee rest of the year averages $20-$30.

Internet: CenturlyLink 40MG DSL internet costs $80 (It was $90 when I had Comcast)

House Ins and property tax: N/A, I rent and don't have it, and don't have renters insurance.

I'm in a triplex with west and south external walls.

Water - included in rent

Gas - most months $20-$25, December usually at around $52. Gas furnace and water heater.

Electric - runs about $40-$50 month average, highest was July at $78 (swamp cooler on 24/7). Lots of electronics and I often work from home. I also like to have lights on at night.

Insurance - car is $495 every 6 months, renters is $126 or so for full year, replacement value. USAA.

2,800 sqft, no wall insulation, south facing

Water/trash/sewer - $100/mo, includes trash for 2nd unit
Elec - $120/mo, energy star central AC set at 72-75, mostly CFL and LED lights, but also halogen. ~400 gallon hot tub. Work from home, nest thermostat.
Gas - $45/mo, 80% efficient furnace set at 61-68, gas range, new 50 gallon water heater
internet - Comcast, 50mbps, $78
House insurance - $1,000/yr (stated hazards only, high deductible, new roof)
Car insurance - $700/yr, 2 cars 5 and 7 years old, paid off, no tickets/accidents recently
Property Tax - 1.5% of assessed property value, in my case. Assume assessed value is <= what you pay for the property. Double check this with your realtor.

Remember, people down in ABQ are paying water, trash and sewer fees *combined*.

I know OP asked about in-town costs, but up here in the East Mountains these services are charged separately - and there are no sewers. So our monthly water bill for 2 people averages $38, and we pay $12 per month for trash pickup.

Only other difference I see is that we pay $25 per month for 20 MG DSL internet. They don't offer us a faster service, or I'd probably pay more.
