I am curious if anyone has traveled out of the states to experience Ayahuasca with a shaman to assist with the healing of chronic pain, depression or just life direction? I would love to hear your experiences with entheogens as an alternative method of healing or enlightenment.

I've not been brave enough nor have I been unhappy enough to try it, but it sounds interesting. Let us know what you find out. I did read an article in Smithsonian (I believe) several years ago.
Thanks for your response. I'm just curious about it and just may have to travel to south America to experience it!
Why when u can buy it online and read recipe's for extraction...
And it certainly could be used for healing in that it might help open someone to
their own power.
Good luck.

I didn't know one could do that. Thank you for the suggestion!

Um, you sound like you know more about this than I do, but I would want to be under the proper care of a shaman if I did something like this. And no, I'm not kidding. It sounds scary enough with the proper guidance and a shaman would know what to do if you have a "bad trip." I look at it as the equivalent as DIY chemotherapy, but I could be wrong of course. Besides, it's a great excuse to travel to S. America. Don't know if you can get the tax write-off though.
It was an amazing experience and my personal belief that every human being should try it at least once in his/her life. It was deep, and helped me in multiple ways. I highly recommend experiencing Ayahuasca in its natural environment with an experienced Ayahuascero though, for guidance purpose.
In addition to the Ayahuasca, I also did a 5 day sanango isolation ceremony. This was as challenging as the Aya ceremony, but in a different way.
I am writing all my stories of my three years in Ecuador and Peru for my future blog. I only did a single Ayahuasca ceremony though, but wow...it was a doozy and I plan on working with Madre Aya some more in the near future.
