I never knew. The eye dr I went to just said I wasn't able to have it. At the time I thought it was probably due to astigmatism but I just found out a few weeks ago that I don't have astigmatism. I think I asked about 15 years ago and then I got too old to have it anyway.

Talking about cataracts and prevention on another health group, and I know grape seed ex is indicated for eye health, I found this info which actually mentions cataract prevention.

I was told maybe 20 yrs about the cloudy eyes and here I am at 78 and no cataract issues.

Keep on doing what you're doing.

In answer as to thinking that it was due to astigmatism that I wasn't eligible for lasik, the cataract surgeon told me I wasn't eligible for the cataract lenses (toric) that correct for astigmatism. He said I didn't have enough astigmatism. Now that the cataract surgery is over--I need glasses for the astigmatism!

Sometimes I think we need to slow down and get a second opinion.

Castor oil is also good for cataracts:

https://normshealy.com/castor-oil-for-cataracts/

I started using castor oil for conditioning my eyelashes, and then read of the many other health benefits like cataracts prevention/cure and castor oil is a great remedy for dry eyes. I have problems with allergies and dry eyes due to diabetes and castor oil just works wonders. It has also improved some other things going on with my eyes. Of course I always use cold-pressed and organic oil.

OK, I just purchased this LifeExtension Eye Brite III as it contains NAC. Doing all I know to NOT do surgery and keep these eyes working.

That's interesting. I know I have a seemingly incorrectible magnesium deficiency so maybe that could have been a factor in developing cataracts--although I guess cataracts aren't so unusual at age 71. I just always thought of cataracts as something people in their 80s or older developed. I have been using the magnesium oil instead of the pills and it seems to work better. Magnesium is so hard to absorb and lots of people are deficient.

Started with the Brite Eye III from LifeExtension. 1-2 drops daily. No burning. Some reviews reported a bit of burning, but not for me. Alternate with Simalasan dry eye drops which I've used for many years.

So with all I do including grape seed ex, I may escape any eye surgery.
