Well that would support the general assertion in this thread that the British had a lot more hangups over intermixing with the local population than the Spanish did.
Yep, they did, and as the U.S. whites gained a sort of identity, they embraced their racism lovingly, particularly the South.
And sadly people like this Mexican author & "scholar" named Enrique Krauze sadly believe & perpetuate the lie that Latin American nations & regions have little to NO racism at all which is BS. Look at this. He clearly has historical amnesia. He also tries to make the USA more racist than it really is. Additionally, he perpetuates the lie that Spanish/Portuguese/French colonists & slavery were nicer or better & that the British counterparts were evil but that's a lie. One can easily find valid evidence & examples that show the British were better or nicer but that's neither here nor there because ALL of the colonization had examples of good, bad, & evil. All of the colonies used virtually the same methods, although analyzing within each region and nation and antecedent and multilayered & nuanced contexts is very important. However lets remember that it was SPANISH that instituted race and racism and the racial casta systems & race/color coded stratification in the Western Hemisphere. And lots of the colonizers had been Crypto Jews/Sephardic Jews.
Also contrary to popular belief, there was tons of mixing in British colonies. Lots of interracial marriages & mixing in British colonies, especially in the USA, this heavy racial mixing occurred after USA's independence from the British. People be acting so brand new & are extremely averse to nuance.
There are other things to consider, in the case of USA culture, society, & history & much more; Many people have the misconception that slavery was based on race. It wasn't. Slavery helped promulgate racism because the biggest pool of slaves was coming from Africa, but slave status was NOT determined by racial assignation but by matrilineal birthright. If your mother was a slave, so were you. Regardless if you were legally White or not.
Bottom line: BOTH USA & Latin American nations have racism and racist people & colorism & classism. Now what will we as humans & humanity do to address these problems critically & eradicate these issues completely & work for a more equal, safer, comfortable world with harmony and peace that we yearn for, speak of or want for the present & future & for overall eternity? That's the question and that's what shall be answered & steps taken to see this come true and come to fruition. Divided we stand, united we fall.

Nope, re read ALL posts. Reading is fundamental. I'm trying to show the flaw in others entire arguments, and counter or respond with it with another objective nuanced counterpoint or flawed argument to show the flaw in another persons argument. Somewhere in the truth lies the middle. I don't defend either the BRUTAL natures of the British or the Spanish. The bottom line is that they were really not that different from each other & GOOD & EVIL traits and/or tendencies can be found among BOTH the British & the Spanish, which is the OVERALL point I'm trying make.
Now so you defend the Spanish & bash the British??? Or do you admit that BOTH Spanish & British were similar and/or both had elements of imposed colonization that were harsh or had harsh & positive elements? What's your final conclusion or definitive?
