IQ, yes, the tests are bad, which is why for some strange reason the lower IQ countries have next to no innovation meanwhile high IQ countries do.
Singapore and Switzerland seem to do pretty well in terms of national identity and social cohesion despite having different ethnic or linguistic groups in the country.

IQ describes people, not countries. You're barking up the wrong tree.

My co-worker is from there, and has stated the reason it has gotten worse is due to the commodities pricing crash (alot of investments put towards there only to see it evaporate) plus the corruption and hangover of the Olympics. Alot of corrupt people took the money and ran which was funded via debt. This has led to near bankruptcies of many institutions such as schools, hospitals, law enforcement.

Then there is a drug war similarly to Mexico that is not covered as much. So she said it is the worst it has been in many many years.

Not really.

Corruption in Brazil is endemic since the 1950's, including the 1960's and the 1970's.

Public schools in most states are now much better in infrastructure than they were in 1998, and all public school teachers in Brazil today are certainly way better paid than public school teachers in Brazil in 1998.

The problem is the spreading of drug trafficking like a cancer, including with tentacles in politics and the Judiciary system. "Gangsta music" is also not helping.

Same goes for Mexico and all the other Mestizo countries.

This stupid argument again no, please.

How many different languages and ethnic groups are there in China?

This "country IQ" bullsh*t is a bad joke. How many people have taken IQ tests for that "research"? How those people were chosen? What was the methodology?

Give me a break.

She did say it was mainly Rio, so maybe not the whole country (I was born in S. America too but mainly know what my dad has told me regarding how bad Brazil has been for a long time). But she did say there is great economic strain, layoffs, etc. And why many people want to emigrate out.

The state of Rio de Janeiro was badly affected by the oil price crash of 2015. The state of Rio de Janeiro is in deplorable conditions now, lacking money even to pay state employees.

But the state of Rio de Janeiro is just an small part of Brazil, like the state of Florida is just an small part of the USA.

The rest of Brazil is not in as bad situation as Rio, in financial terms. But crime is a serious nationwide problem.

Has Brazil ever been peaceful? It's not like this is some sort of brand new development.
