Really? Is this a project for a history class? What an absurd idea.

Just the opposite! CA is the same size as Germany, and Germany stands alone. Texas is much bigger than France, and France stands alone. Great Britain? It would probably fit very comfortably inside Alaska!

Given the irreparable deep split in this dysfunctional country today, now is the time to split the U.S. into 2, 3, or 4 parts. Long, long, long overdue! Even Alberta, in Canada, wants to secede from Canada. And there may be even some state counties that want to stand alone, and secede from their states. Clark County in NV would be a candidate for that, the most populous county in NV and the state capital is 440 miles away in Carson City.

Corporate wise, we took over Central America long, long ago, and we still are in power there in many ways. United Fruit, at one time, controlled 70% of Guatemala.

Where did you get the idea that Alberta wants to leave Canada?

Milky way resident.

A FEW Alberta residents are dis-satisfied with the current relations between our Federal Government and that of Alberta. It is NOT a serious political movement, at all. Most of that dis-satisfaction stems from the Federal balance of payments program, that sees money sent from Alberta to " less fortunate Provinces " like Quebec. That gets up many people's noses.

To the original OP's theme of US world domination.....A completely stupid idea.

I could live with that. But to be fair I'd prefer to see it be the full package deal that includes all 16 of the Commonwealth Realms, the 14 British Overseas Territories and the 3 Crown Dependencies (the word CANZUK would not be acceptable, it would of course have to be something different and more self-explanatory) -

16 Commonwealth Realms
Antigua and Barbuda,
Australia,
The Bahamas,
Barbados,
Belize,
Canada,
Grenada,
Jamaica,
New Zealand,
Papua New Guinea,
Saint Kitts and Nevis,
Saint Lucia,
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,
Solomon Islands,
Tuvalu,
United Kingdom.

14 British Overseas Territories
Bermuda
Cayman Islands
Turks and Caicos Islands
British Virgin Islands
Anguilla
Montserrat
Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands
Falkland Islands
British Antarctic Territory
South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands
St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha (including Gough Island Dependency)
British Indian Ocean Territory
Gibraltar
Sovereign Base Areas, Akrotiri and Dhekelia (on Cyprus)

3 Crown dependencies:
Isle of Man
Bailiwick of Guernsey
Bailiwick of Jersey

Once again I would rather see the hemisphere united than fighting factions. For those of you who are aware of the times we are moving back to a version of the 19th century great power competition. We are seeing it with the UK being fiercely pushed into the EU. The EU will make a move to get everyone in line including Switzerland, Norway & the Baltic states in order to counter Russia. We here on the other hemisphere have it even better as there is no other great power than the US. We have not had the amount of wars & violence in our hemisphere and that is probably one major reason. However we will still act as a regional hegemon for the foreseeable future. That means throwing a coup in LATAM. That means forcing the Canadians to sign the USMCA & need our permission to do business with China (or arresting someone from Huawei). I would rather we learn to live together and bargain at the table as equals than compete as national interests.

For those who are advocating CANZUK this is a silly idea. Why?

1. The UK is in Europe and will be kept by the E.U. The EU will act more like a hegemon as they realize they cannot depend on the US for their security. There is no future in which the EU does not push for the UK to be in the Union. Also Canada is already functionally seen in the US sphere. There is no future where the US does not treat Canada much like the EU will treat the UK.

2. CANZUK would be a weak alternative to the EU or the US. It's great geographical distances make it untenable. Why wouldn't Australia simply call the US rather than the UK for help?

For those who think the US should break up this is silly again. Why?

It would only make life worse. If you think that working with states that are problematic, imagine how difficult it will be when they have full sovereignty! Imagine trying to sail a boat down the Mississippi and needing to pay a tariff. Imagine when you can't go to those other national parks because of some weird rule that they make up to deny foreigners. It's much like Alberta wanting to become an independent state. If they think working with the rest of Canada is hard, imagine how difficult it would be if they were a different sovereign territory. Not to mention border security is going to be even more ridiculous.

I should qualify my statements by saying that I really, really don’t wish that the United States takes over Mexico and Central America. And I doubt that the current administration is going to do it.

It’s just that our country may have no choice but to do it in the future because of unfortunate realities in those countries. It has to be a last resort kind of thing when we’re out of all other options.

I rest my case then. It’s not a serious movement. Quebec on the other hand, but I’m not going to discuss that here.

As resources become scarce, you can expect the world map to shift once again. Borders and countries are created by humans and are therefore not set in stone.

Because we’ve managed Puerto Rico so well? I’m sure there is a list a mile long of countries who want to forego self governance/determination in order to sign up for that sort of treatment.
