I filled out the required MIG form online, but after hitting the submit key I got an error message that stated the following:

"It is not possible to send the Pre-Registration, you already have a record with the same travel date, verify the information"

If I go to the Verifly checklist on American Airlines, it asks me to check off a box confirming I have written confirmation--which I do NOT.

Short of cancelling this trip and going to less PITA Brazil, what can I do?....seems like the airline and Verifly will not be able to help me.....will I be refused admittance in Colombia if I am even allowed to board the plane?....do I need to make a special trip to the Colombian consulate here in Miami ???

Help....I am supposed to leave on Tuesday.

Thanks

Was that the only time you filled out the MIG form?

figured out my error; first time filling out this PITA form.

They ask you for type of document, a very vague "number", and document number....what they really are asking is for you to fill in your passport number twice--like you do for email, except with email they specify email address…twice. If you have an error the site should also point you to the area(s) where information is inaccurate, but it does not.

I took a snapshot from the Colombia MIG app but never got the confirming email. Had to figure out where to go online to find out how to print it out.

Fortunately a Google search for common MIG form problems exists and I resolved my issue.

Also, the “genius” who designed the website says one can access the form 72 hours in advance of their flight. Last time I checked, 72 hours = 3 days—yet I could not access the site to input my information on the 26th afternoon for a 29th morning flight; I had to wait until today, the 27th—2 days, or 48+ hours, in advance.

Since they now have my information, and that of others, sure hope the entry process is streamlined and faster once I get off the plane.

Yeah, I just came back from Colombia. My first time there since 2019 so the MIG form was a new wrinkle to me.

Luckily someone I know told me before I filled it out that it was the Passport number (x 2) that needed to be entered. I didn't even realize the MIG form was a requirement until 24 hours before my flight. All went smoothly getting through immigration at the airport (other than the long lines).

Hope you have a great and safe trip.

One additional item to mention: Colombian airlines are still requiring passengers to wear masks so you will need to wear a mask to board the plane.

Once I left the airport in Colombia there were virtually no masks anywhere...certainly no place that required them.

Where are you heading: Medellin? I suppose it easy to get a direct flight to any of the major cities in Colombia from the Miami area. Oh the advantages of living so close to So. America.

I had to fly from LAX through Bogota (en route to Cartagena). The connection from LAX to Bogota gave me a 1 hour and 45 minute buffer but I nearly missed my connecting flight to Cartagena. Long lines in Bogota getting through immigration.

My flight (Avianca) on my way back to the US was canceled and nearly got stuck in Bogota for a night.

When I flew from LAX a few months back I decided to book a round trip ticket from LAX-Miami and a second round trip ticket from Miami-Medellin. I spent 2 nights in Miami, on the way in, and 1 more on the way back. So, no annoying layovers or potential hurrying around, and I enjoyed the time in Miami. Of course this only works if you have the extra time to do it, which I did.

Yeah, I've definitely considered that route. Time is an issue as you mention. When I flew to Rio (nearly 10 yrs ago) I was happy to get a flight from LAX to Miami to Rio.

Much easier here in Miami, direct nonstops including to my favorite spots in Brazil—Rio and São Paulo. Odd, no nonstops from LAX to any.
