So, it looks like once I get a few minor kinks ironed out I should be moved to Anchorage by the end of the year.

My question is, where and what would you go to see first to get a decent feel of town. I love to try and find new things to get a feel of what an area is like. From the tourist attractions to the best local place for breakfast, what does the group suggest?

Thanks for any and all input.

I'm guessing if your from the cornfields and you want a "feel" for the town head over to the Great Alaskan Bush Company as soon as your plane lands.

hmmmmm... thanks for that, but probably not the right type of "feel". Although I'm sure my 15 year old son and husband would enjoy the scenery.

Anchorage is actually an easy town to get a feel for. I'd just go wander around downtown and start spreading out from there. If your into outdoor stuff there is tons to do all year round.

You might drive up to Glen Alps to view Anchorage and the surrounding area from about the 2000' level. It will give you a good perspective from above. From the parking lot at Glen Alps you can climb Flattop Mountain which is the most climbed mountain in the state.
