downtown is very walkable.

one day (for a variety of reasons) i walked the seward highway (mostly the old highway, once it split off) from downtown all the way to dimond, then across to the dimond fred meyer (east of the seward highway), did some shopping, and took the bus back (didn't wanna walk with all that weight).

between feet, bus, and bike, you'll be fine.

I live just SW of downtown (within 10 blocks) and could manage most things without a vehicle if I chose to, with more range and choice with a bike. Time however is an issue with me so I usually combine errands and drive.

Thanks again to everyone for the advice, reputation given!

Does anyone know of any decent extended stay places in the thick of things downtown? Obviously, I need something that is within walking distance of the essentials (and preferably coffee shops).

Thanks again...
