If your into roughnecking (oilfield) NV racing...contact Saxon Energy in Anchorage and see if they can put you to work. We have had a rash of turnover on our rig. Every hitch when a crew comes back they have one or two new guys on a crew. Most are young with no experience and are appalled at the fact they have to actually work 12 hours a day. Rain or shine. I think most of these guys have only delivered pizza or washed dishes in their young lives and have no work ethic. It's frustrating as hell. Like city kids coming to the country. Totally out of their element.
Rance,

We've been doing a bit research for the past month or so now on moving to Anchorage. I've come to the conclusion that out of state hires are not too popular, do you have any advice? This is the ideal time for my family to make the move but don't want to go without a job. You mentioned work on the rigs. Do you have any contacts that I could potentially shoot a resume to or phone call? Any input would be helpful.

If you can please reach me at my email.

brandonsbeverly@gmail.com

I don't mind hard work and am willing to pursue any leads I can get. Appreciate your time.

wow, I never had trouble finding jobs in AK. When I was in college I had 3 of them.

My kids are now job-seeking age and have had no trouble getting entry level jobs.

I got laid off after the company I worked for was sold and tried to collect some unemployement. I got a damn job on ACCIDENT and lost my benefits.

Thats becasue even the rigs dont pay anywhere near what they used too. I have a friend who was an expereinced driller who went to north dakota. People will follow the money.

If I have to work 12+ hrs a day in crap weahter with a holes and no sex for 2 weeks they are going to have to do WAY better than 20-30 hr.

highlife2 - Just get a "guy" friend on the rig and then you don't have to worry about the no sex thing. It's not for me - but sounds like you are getting desperate.

Hubby got a job in Anchorage via phone interview from Australia. First time he spoke to the company owner, the second call was a conference with the other 2 main employees. During that conversation they offered him the position of System Administrator (same job as Edward Snowden, different employer). We hadn't even visited AK previously so this will definitely be a journey of discovery but we wouldn't have moved here if we didn't have some work lined up. I've received some positive bites from an employment agency and they are certainly a lot friendlier on the phone than in Sydney. So far I love it here and look forward to contributing to this great state (and city). It's great your story had a happy ending, NV Racing.

Highlife, have you thought about getting a job in North Dakota? You're young still, no ties -- why not?

No, I am pursuing Sakhalin but I have some more research to do. Its a whole different culture, one that perhaps I would fit in better. Things are going ok here now but I am building a network right now because you cant just get on a plane and show up there one day.

I went thru North Dakota. I don't remember seeing women there at all. Just roughnecks. He only thinks its difficult to get a date in AK...

Actually, I take that back - I did see a couple of families driving thru like we were.

Besides I think a communist country that doesn't care about human rights is perfect for Highlife's line of thinking.

Sakhalin Energy – Specialists with Experience

But you could just show up in South Dakota and by the end of the week have the job of your choice.
