Not to seem like one of THOSE people that tan every day, all day and even resort to fake tans (I don't), I'm moving to Alaska...sadly. If it was my choice, I'd prefer to stay here. But anyway, moving to Anchorage, Alaska hasn't been easy what so ever and I'm trying to find the things there that I would enjoy. So bottom line, if I were to live in Anchorage or say, Eagle River, would tanning be a possibility during the summer time? Or would it be too cold?

You need to concern yourself more with the distinct likelyhood of sunburn.

Tanning does not depend on temperature, but instead on exposure to UV light. It could be 0 degrees out and you'd still get a tan/sunburn.

Tanning causes premature aging of the skin. It's crazy to see people that move up here from the lower 48 that have spent lots of time tanning. Their skin is all wrinkled and aged. They think the tanning makes them look more attractive but in the long run it actually does the opposite.

The average summer day in Anchorage is a mix of sun and clouds with temperature in the mid 60s, so not exactly tanning weather. Fully sunny days with temps in the 70s aren't uncommon though, especially in early summer, and people do hang out on the grass at parks and tan. In fact, many will take the day off work if at all possible... I remember an 80 degree day in Wasilla where the downtown park was so packed with people in bathing suits that you couldn't find a place to walk.

Sorry to hear that you're coming to Alaska against your will. That's going to be rough.
