Didn't see a previous thread that specifically reviewed church options in Anchorage, so thought I'd start one

Anchorage has more houses of worship than I would have anticipated, but studies (like one the ADN ran this past summer) show that all religions face uphill challenges here. I'm not sure if it is the location, the cold, or ??

We're part of a church plant and are getting our feet wet. Sometimes it is hard to talk in Alaska about religious matters because it seems like a "hands off" subject.

Curious what your experiences are.

Why start another church when there are so many already? Why not spend that time and money helping build up another group that is already there? Seems like too many times someone wants to roll out their own improved version and sell it as something new.

When we lived in Anchorage, and it looks like we are moving back, we tried going to differents brands of churches. Seemed like most of them had something to sell and wanted in your wallet.

You pay, we pray.

Good luck. But instead of starting another church go find one that already exists and help them grow.

Wasilla has quite a few churches of just about all denominations.
