Your answer was irrelevant to the topic, they are two completely differnet cities.

I guess I must be a silly goose, I have this thing about going to a place where they actively target and put a hit on the head of the force that are there to protect me. I use the reasoning that if they're willing to kill him and his workers so blatantly then where do I as just an unarmed tourist stand? You could say "well you have nothing to worry about since you're not involved in their fight" but many an innocent has been killed over the years just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Add to that as a tourist you don't KNOW where the wrong place/time is.
Now before you say "well, well, the same could happen here think about these 2 facts.
1. I can/would shoot back HERE.
2. Since I live here I've got a pretty good idea of where the wrong place may be and so avoid 'em.

I have gone to Rocky Point enough times to know what areas to avoid, basically stay in the tourist areas near the beach, don't venture into town where all the citizens live, that's THEIR area, not ours.

I guess my situation is different since our house is about 10 minutes out of town, we rarely go into town unless we need more beer/food.

To save a few bucks...?! You've gotta be kiddin' me! Shows how much of an idea you have. Rocky Point has become a major rip-off, particularly on weekends and holiday weekends. Of course, that's courtesy of our fellow Americans who know we have no time and still have some money. For a longer vacation, it's cheaper to get a flight and a way nicer all-inclusive (all food & drinks) hotel in Cancun or Riviera Maya on a way nicer beach (right ON the beach) than to get decent accommodations ALONE in Rocky Point!

I used to love Rocky Point for the authentic "little fishing village" ambience. I can't say I like it as much since it became too Americanized for my taste, but it's still an easy drive and our closest coastal getaway. I started going more to Riviera Maya in recent years and hadn't been to Rocky Point in almost 3 years. Going this week. Trust me, I'll be back!

that is great for you.... what about for guys like me that have never been there? will you go with us and keep us in the right part of town? will you rush us back to the u.s. if we need emergency treatment because we went into the wrong part of town? at least in east los angeles the 911 system still works and there are a few honest cops to protect us and some hospitals and ambulances to get us there. in r.p. if you need help because you were ignorant or stupid, you are screwed.

You quoted my post, but did not read it? I said where not to go in RP.

If there is an emergency, you treat it just like you would in the states, go to a hospital, or contact the appropriate people. When traveling to a foreign country, you take certain precautions, and do research in case a situation like this may arise. I always suggest at least one person have a phone capable of making calls in RP.

I think it would depend on the injury, I have been stung by jellyfish probably 50+ times and I just use the old "pee on the leg" trick.
