For my new house, Im getting basic carpet from the home builders and planning to upgrade from private company , coz of ridiculous high prices for the quality of carpeting provided by home builders.

I am not sure if its a good idea to get tiling done outside. I havent seen much private companies in phoenix doing tiling. I havent seen much prices posted online either. Can you guys give me your views: Is it worth getting tiling done outside ? Would I be able to get better tiling than builders for the same price....

Tiling is HUGE in Phoenix. There are many companies as well as small contractors doing tiling. In Phoenix, tile is better than carpet any day of the week. Tile will keep your house cooler, thus mitigating electricity costs. Tile will also increase the value of your home. Are you coming in from out of state or are you already living in Phoenix? I recently had most of the downstairs redone in tile (approx 1300 sq ft) for less money than the builder wanted 5 years ago! You do have to shop around though. Three companies up on Bell Road wanted $3.00 sq/ft for this particular tile I wanted. I got it for $2.62 sq/ft at a place in Litchfield Park. Carpet/tile stores also install. Again, labor costs vary as well. I have my own "tile man" who does excellent work at a fair price. He did the work on weekends because during the week he works for one of those companies that sell/install tile! Let me know where your house is, and I might be able to help.

I have a great tile guy if you need one,I bought 2000 feet of 20inch tile which was marked down to a 1.00 because a few had slight imperfections and paid 1.25 a foot for installation. My house looks great and is virtually maintenance free. I have 2 dogs,2 cats and 2 kids and never have to worry about stains or damage.
