You know, I tried to be reasonable as the OP with the Cortez Kid from Colorado until he clearly seemed to want to insight here. I have no problem with New Mexico either. As a Libertarian, I'd have no problem living there either. The I 40 corridor from Santa Rosa to Gallup has plenty of beautiful land for sale and am a huge fan of ABQ as well. The lowest elevation in that state is near Carlsbad still at almost 3000 feet above sea level so you get way more of the 4 seasons there as well. I'm a NM advocate and if one can make a living there, it's gods country just as Northern AZ is for me having land near Valle.

Most people who live in AZ. Are from somewhere else. That old time self reliant thing is slowly going away because of the steady stream of folks from nanny states. People from CA. come to mind first.

kapie9969, yes in a way. I think that it is more true with all the posters here who push the nanny state and progressive agenda here in the Arizona forum than it is with folks on the ground. And that type of agenda and view of Arizona is helped along with other administrative things here on this site. My last visit to Arizona and my visits to other forum sites tell me that Arizona is sticking to what magnum is talking about.

Magnum, never posted in this thread until now, only gave you some pos rep for posting it.

Yeah, for a state that is supposedly for the "self reliant" there sure seem to be a lot of old folks reliant on government social security. Maybe the OP has a unique definition of "self reliant".

Remember it is the red states that have most people on food stamps. AZ is no exemption. What I find most hilarious is that AZ is not for the self-reliant nor anyone else if it wasn't for Colorado water. We depend in other states in AZ more than anywhere else as without the outside water supply we would be dead in the desert. What would we do if Colorado builds a big dam and not let any water through to us any more? New York by comparison is completely self-reliant. When it come to both food stamps and water, the two most basic needs, AZ is anything but self-reliant and New York certainly is much more. Who's your nanny now - right it's the federal government. Without federal water programs or SNAP we wouldn't be here for sure.

I agree. So-called "libertarians" in AZ are in reality Federal Bohemitarians mooching off the Federal Water programs. In Biblical times they were called Pharisees.

The hypocrisy of self-professed "libertarians" in AZ gets even better: not only do they mooch off of federal water programs, but federal tax dollars as well. AZ is a net-recipient of federal money. Right! So you leave a state that is self-reliant on water, farmland and a net-payer of federal money (New York) and you go to a state that is a net moocher of federal money and depending on the federal government for its most basic need (water). And you really call yourself a libertarian??? This is without any honor and makes the Pharisees look like examples of righteousness. Anyone who calls himself a libertarian and lives in AZ is a screaming hypocrite.

NY completely self reliant ? Have you checked their current debt situation? Highway construction has been on going since the 1980s that still hasn't been completed. Don't even get started on the welfare system. Obviously you've never lived in NY computer tough guy.

Lastly, where I spend time is in a water haul community.Colorado River doesn't make up the majority of the water supply for PHX or rural areas that haul water up north like Valle. PHX is primarily the SRP Lakes and aquifers that make up the water supply with the Colorado River being a distant third.

Blue states account for over 70% of welfare spending......Get your facts straight, "Potential Socialist".
