There are some nice houses off the main roads. I get a bit vexed by the trashmos who go off and abandon huge piles of garbage bags, and assorted detritis behind.(and not even for the garbage truck) I wish the landlords would get big fines for allowing tenants to trash a decent area. Hit 'em in the wallet ! My grandfather used to call trashy places "sore eyes."

I'm sure Bill Parker, the owner of Lake Mohave Ranchos, would be amazed at the development at Dolan Springs. I'm sure he would say we should have put in some deed restrictions as to what the land could be used for and what people could build.

I don't care if people have a simple abode, as long as they clean it up. There are many residents who are struggling just to stay optimistic, let alone, thrive. I know zoning can be a mixed bag, as they say. So many places in Dolan Springs look like bad junk yards. They aren't classy art junk like Chloride, some eye sores are simply trash heaps created by disposophobiacs, or people who feel they have a constitutional right to attract rats, and other vermin. I know a good junk yard when I see one. A good one makes me want to look around, not run away disgusted.

You can always call the county, rats and vermin are a health hazard.

I lived in Mohave County for quite a while and it definitely has a 'vermin' problem

An interesting story about California and Mohave County for the history books. Back in 1962, Governor Pat Brown was reelected in California and the beginning of liberalism really took off. His real estate department ended all land sales out of the state to California residents (by voiding the public report) and that affected Dolan Springs tremendously. The only subdivision allowed to sell was Lake Havasu City but they shut them down effectively because Mohave County did not have any zoning laws. Lake Havasu City was selling residential, business and so on lots. California said the subdivision could not charge more for business lots or lakeside lots and so on; at that point Holly Corp., the sales agent, moved out of California into Arizona. So even back in the early 60's California was worried about residents moving out, now look at the state.
