Yup, but if the coast isn't clear and you can't be assured
of clearing the intersection then don't go.

I've been honked at - sometimes furiously by people who
insist that I go out and sit in the middle of an intersection
behind a bunch of others sitting in the middle of an
intersection.

I've also been honked at while waiting for a pedestrian
to clear the intersection.

you nailed it!!! soooo many people run the red lights here it's ridiculous. i always wait to see that everyone is stopping before i go.

Arizona drivers are bad, worse than almost anywhere else, at least the places I have been. Traffic sucks in Cali, but at least most poeple know how to drive the speed limit.

The one thing that REALLY pisses me off, is on the freeways, mainly the 101 and 51, people drive in the fast lane, and are only going 75!! You do not need to be in the fast lane if you are only going 75, you need to be going at least 80-85!! I get on their ass, if they dont move, I will cut them off and throw something at them usually, or at least give them the finger, or brake check them, no matter what, if you rear end someone its automatically your fault, even if I Did brake check you.

Left turners have the least right of way. They must wait until all traffic clears, even if someone runs a red light you must wait. If you turn left and a redlight runner t-bones you, you will get a ticket (if you live) for illegally turning onto oncomming traffic. That is the law.

At least on the 51, the speed limit is 55 and 65 so you really don't need to be going over 75.

I agree with you on the fast lane though; it should be kept clear unless you are passing.

I realize you are exaggerating but you are wrong about the rear-ending information above.

This happens a lot everywhere, and not just in Arizona, and most of the time you can blame somebody talking on the cell phone and not paying attention to what's going on around them. There were plenty of times I and others were waiting to make a left turn and we had to sit through another red arrow because somebody in the front of the line cared more about what to bring home for dinner or soap operas, than pay close attention to the left turn signal.

Could be worse...in Miami & Hollywood (FL), they honk at you BEFORE the light turns green.

Taking a moment of "caution" before proceeding on a green light or arrow has become common practice here in Phoenix when SO MANY RUN RED AND YELLOW LIGHTS... I myself (am probably the one you honked at - however I am sure I did not flip you off) - will wait when the lights and arrows change for so many times - it has been a close call by the light runners.
so those who take a breathe and wait a moment - thank god you and I are still alive..
SO get off the horn and be glad you are still here on earth...

You're right about him being wrong.
