Everything I am finding on the net makes Hot Springs look great. Friends who have been there (we haven't yet) tell us that they think it would suit us very well. So far I haven't seen anything negative about it. Our children are grown so schools are not an issue. Other than something part-time (maybe) jobs are not an issue. We are both very active with community theatre, hubby is a avid golfer and we love water. We don't like the FL/GA/SC heat, nor the OH long, cold, dark winters. Does anyone know of a reason we would NOT want to check out moving there? Thanks!

While I may seem biased as a realtor, I can't think of much.
(My husband and I chose to relocate here last year right about this time of year. )
We do have some pretty hot days come about August though. So get a boat to cool off in the lakes!

You might want to check the average highs in hot springs vs fl,ga,sc.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's higher because it's inland, where as those states are mediated by the sea.

It gets to the upper 90s and 100s. I'm from HS too.

Having experienced a lot of Arkansas summers and a couple of Georgia ones I will say that the Arkansas humidity is a little "stickier" feeling. Because Georgia is close to the ocean I've been told.
Climate wise I wouldn't worry though, It's not that much different.

the only real drawback I would say is the hot, humid summers. We vacationed there twice, before deciding to re-locate to bella Vista, we like Hot Springs, not crazy over the summer tourist, as it is pretty much a tourest town but could live with that. The heat drove us nuts.

If you can cope with it and are pretty liberal in your thinking Hot Springs might be a great place for you.

Guess I should clarify where we've been...Fl we were near the ocean but GA was the middle of the state in the middle of nowhere and SC we're in the NW corner so we're about 4 1/2 hrs from the ocean We wouldn't have minded the FL heat if it didn't last as long as the OH winters! The humidity levels were at 90% or better most of the year. That's hot & sticky even if there is an ocean! GA was just as high. It appears from the data that Hot Springs HOT & humid period only last a few months, while FL & GA were several months long.
