A tiny nation with no oil or other mineral resources, yet somehow Singapore is wealthy? How did they do it?

Most Singaporeans are not wealthy and are just getting by. Most of those impressive high end shopping centers, casinos, million dollar condos and resort hotels are a Disneyland for the rich.

Business. Legal system based on the UK, which is very western-friendly, European-friendly, american-friendly.

By being extremely pro-business in every single way possible and being ultra-friendly to foreign MNCs and thinking up a myriad of ways to attract FDI.

You would not believe how easy it is for someone, whether Singaporean or foreigner, to start a business/company in Singapore, compared to nearly every single other nation.

However, keeping the business/company alive after 6 months is a completely different matter.

Read the history. Singapore is basically a city state created on the tip of the Malaysian peninsula for the purposes of trade and commerce along the lines of old colonial Shanghai or Hong Kong. It is similar to other British overseas commercial colonies..... ahem.... like America and Australia. Except it is really only a big city state and the population is mostly Asian rather than of Anglo descent, like old Shanghai.
