Singapore, like any other country, has its pros and cons.

But ask yourself, would a person rather be born a citizen in Singapore or born a citizen of any of the other south-east nations in the region?

By virtually every measurement, the average Singaporean enjoy a far better standard of living than the average south east Asian, except for Brunei.
The world is not just Southeast Asia.. You could be born in other parts of world ..

I really enjoyed living in Singapore till the mid 2000s.. But since then ..

Indeed 1 thing I am very aware is even if the govt changes hands, the new govt may not make significant changes to the lives of Singaporeans .. Yes Singaporeans are overwhelmed by massive nos of foreigners and how we do not get to take charge of our Cpf money and high ministerial Salarys , but a new govt might not necessarily change that.

To me . I feel that Singaporeans are mainly unhappy abt 3 things :
1 influx of foreigners
2 our CpF money basically lack of control of how we can use it
3 high ministerial salaries

Isn't high salary the only thing that keeps your government officials from corruption?

As a Taiwanese, what is your point of view on this?

I guess little corruption is always a good thing, though it'd be better to be clean spontaneously like Japan or Western Europe.

uhmmm, what does "clean spontaneously".

Actually, if you were forced to migrate, would you consider Australia or western europe as your top choice?

It is quite interesting to define just what exactly defines people's migration movements; i could have stayed in Australia but I choose to make my life in singapore.

I am not sure why, when so many of my friends wanted to spend their lives in Australia but I wanted to live in a big city. I visited Brisbane, KL, Bangkok, Gold Coast, Cairns and Adelaide and I knew that Singapore was better in many respects except for the price of alcohol and the cost of food.

Singapore have its pros and cons, like any other place . I guess you find Singapore fitting for your lifestyle that's why you choose to stay here. To each his/her own

Do you think the death of LKY and the uniting of Singaporeans the past week of mourning will have any effect on the outcome of the next elections ?
