The board itself prompts you, in color no less, to add more information to long dormant threads as many, "thousands" it reads. people may find what you say useful. By design I think the intent was as a relocation and real estate resource and all the other types of post and forums is to drive up viewership. The general example a thread provides to illustrate any cultural point of a community takes precedence over the specific personal details any OP. Now in the fun, off topic, and political forums they do lock threads for age and disappear threads
I know it is the opposite of most message boards which lock threads or at least prompt you to consider starting a new thread on the subject but the policy as judging by the software here, highlighted in amber, is asking folks to add a new post.
