Atheists are not "non-believers". We just don't see anything to believe in other than the mountains of scientific evidence that explains perfectly what has occured over the last 4-billion years.

See Donexodus2 @ youtube for in depth details, hes a phd from N.Carolina who makes really good vids dealing with this issue.

Don't you think the better question should be: "why did you become a believer" considering we were ALL born atheists?

I did not 'become' an atheist, that is the way I was born, that is the way we all were born. Some of us fortunate enough to not have been brainwashed by well meaning but ignorant parents or are smart enough to reject ancient superstitions, if so victimized by the willful ignorance of our parents.

I was questioning my faith (raised in a Christian household). One day I actually started to read the bible. Waaayyyy too much nonsense in there, I mean, men living for 600-900 years? Please.

From there the rest is history, as they say........

I answered this question in a previous thread. Here is my answer, if anyone genuinely cares: Why I left.

Because being anything other than atheist is illogical to me. Logic, reason and instinct is what how man survived as a species. Makes no sense to say some unknown, intangible force is keeping us alive.

"Want" has nothing to do with it. I have never accepted religion or the man made religious tenets. As for "non-believer", who says an atheist does not believe? The beliefs are just totally in opposition to those of the religious. Those are beyond belief.

When I was a child I prayed that I would be faster than Steve Austin (Six Million Dollar Man). In the morning it wasn't so, and I realized God was an invisible friend for adults (someone else's saying). That was the start of a wonderful journey of discovery and understanding.
