So now an atheist has posted that their family members have not gotten vaccinated.
i am curious elyn (or anyone) how do you feel about labeling people who have not gotten vaccinated (in this case all your family members) as "irresponsible" "not among the intelligent" "evil" "probably a Trump supporter" "a clear and present danger to the population" "ignorant" "intransigent" "unconscionable" "genuine harm to others" grouped together with "racists and anti-Semites" "heinous" "dangerous" "negligence" "rancor" "disdain" "castigation" "truly evil"
Thus far that has been the knee-jerk reaction on this thread. and with no recognition or acknowledgment of the many and various reasons why people may not have gotten the vaccine.
They are delaying or blocking the achievement of herd immunity to an extremely deadly and very contagious virus. Their many and varied reasons are totally irrelevant to their egregious disregard for their potentially deadly impact on others, especially the more vulnerable members of society.

Not sure if anyone said that, but let's be clear, both Trump and Melania have not only been vaccinated, Trump had Regeneron antibodies under emergency authorisation, before they had been approved for general use. He also authorised the accelerated research program to get the vaccines developed more quickly, though not all pharmaceutical companies accepted monetary help for that, preferring to remain autonomous.
So if anybody is holding out on the vaccine under the mistaken assumption that Trump would not approve, they'd be wrong.

yes, someone actually said that, in this thread
see post # 3433
ALL the examples of knee-jerk reactions i listed came directly from this thread in the last few pages.

Tzaphkiel rather than arguing the minutae of covid statistics which you are I know will come to nothing, perhaps you could share your reasoning for not wanting to have the vaccine as you stated the reasons are numerous in post #3440

There was nothing knee-jerk about those comments and they were addressed generally to opinions and actions that pose genuine tangible harm to others, which anti-vaxers do pose.
Here we go.
Try telling that to the 3.3 million already dead and the people dying right now in India.
Coronavirus was the third leading cause of death in America in 2020 just behind heart disease and cancer.
Death is not the only serious consequence of Covid infection. Many other debilitating and long-term chronic negative consequences from it have also been experienced.

Agreed.
As I recall the knee jerk reaction came from Tzaphkiels reaction to your post rather than the other way around.

If you or others on this thread are unaware of the numerous reasons people have, which appears to be the case, then maybe start a thread on that and learn something. But that might require (gasp) actually considering and acknowledging other viewpoints. That does not appear to be a strong suit in this thread.
