You could say that all ignorant people claim this.
I mean how many people would call themselves ignorant or actually believe that they are speaking from ignorance?

From my early teens and mid twenties i was in entertainment. It took me to many place and in many different settings.

I've only known a few gay people who were coworkers. There was a woman I knew at work for at least ten years and we'd gotten to be pretty good friends because she was also interested in photography and then one day she told me she was a lesbian. She was just telling a few people who she felt close to but she wasn't really open about it. I had no problem with that at all.
I use to be very social, and as you can see, i ask alot of questions and talk maybe a little to much, its amazing what people will share with you, when you are genuinely interested.

I'm just wondering if you've met someone who was gay who you really disliked and it's caused you to dislike gays in general.
MontanaGuy, I don't dislike gays, if anything i care for them deeply. Deeply enough to desire a better life for them.

I'm curious about your statement that you understand sexuality all too well.
Not anything i want the world knowing, I've Repented and asked for forgiveness years ago, and that's all there is to it.

I know you can't be too bad of a guy because afterall, you do play a PRS guitar!
You mean the greatest guitar in the world...right?
Quote:
I guess we just have some very different opinions on this subject but what I really feel strongly is that gays and lesbians deserve to live a fulfilling life without being harassed by the heterosexual majority of society.
We may, i've had these same discussions with gays that i know, and some agreed and some did not. It can be a pandoras box for some, and i get that. To others, its a life changing possibility.
I've never harassed, or intentionally hurt anyone that is gay. Which hasn't always been the case towards me, from a few bads seeds i've encountered in life, so yes there have been gays that did not treat me honorably, but i can discern the difference and take each person based on them, not others.
I have spent alot of time helping, defending and unconditionally loving them. But i don't tell them that they are sealed to their gayness, nor that they have no choice in the matter.
I do feel that its something that can be overcome, as i have stated before. Those that have, for the most part are pleased to have tried and many have prevailed.

godspeed,

freedom

True, but there is a big difference between being accurate (telling the factual truth) and stating your opinion.
Most people who claim that they aren't ignorant are just stating their opinion (their belief and not a fact).

Moderator cut:

Good evening, all!

This is just a reminder that this is an OPEN FORUM.

All may post here, just as they may on any other forums on city-data. The same rules, however, apply: the Terms of Service. --That means: no rudeness, flaming, attacking, etc. You know the drill.

Believers can, and do, post on this forum, just as nonbelievers can, and do, post on the Christianity subforum. The same rules apply: The Terms of Service. No rudeness, flaming, attacking, etc.

Thus far, I have been reading alot of points of views from nonbelievers as well as a few believers as regards the OP.

It is absolutely okay to exchange points of view.

Hope this clarifies things.

Thanks!

-June

It's a fact to me. And who better to know me, than me. If i say i am not ignorant of sexuality, then i am speaking the truth.
Which leaves your comments.....speculation at best.

I do appreciate your participation, but it may be best to take ones word, when you have no proof to the contrary. Especially when one's life experience is the subject.

godspeed,

freedom

I'm not really FOR any non-monogamous-heterosexual marriages, it's not my place to tell people what they can and can't do with their own lives.

Taking yourself as a measuring point is proof of ignorance. This is the same as saying that because you find yourself beautiful because you are blond and have blue eyes only blond people with blue eyes are beautiful.
Or that because you believe a certain set of morals everyone who disagrees with your morals is immoral.
I would call this behaviour narcissistic or egocentric.

I 'm sure that homophobes question the masculinity of every male who doesn’t feel threatened by a gay man.
