then oakland city's outdoor market sounds like the perfect fit...i have seen produce sold out of a truck, fish fry, bbq pits, the sock man (25 pr for $10), wholesale lingerie, lawn equipment, used furniture, knicknacks, car parts, etc. Very much like a yard sale, except a lot of vendors tend to specialize in something or another. Its in between an appliance rehab place and an indoor building that has been around forever (to the point that the former "flea market" stuff is now "collectible/antique")!
Swapping / bartering works here too.

Its crammed full on Sat & Sun, but enterprising vendors will even set up during the week.

The Starlight flea market seems like it would be cool, but the last time I was there it was nearly all clothes. There were some foodtrucks selling Mexican snacks.

Speaking of Mexican, the Buford Hwy Flea Market used to be a spectacular sight (like our version of Chinatown) but I haven't been in about 10 years. If you were in the market for boots with taxidermied rattlesnakes on the toes, or a fake silk shirt with pot leaves and the Virgin de Guadalupe praying over a showy car and crossed machine guns, they were your hook up. Botanica supplies, fancy quincinera clothes for kids, and tons of tight-fitting clothes for girls/jeans are there too. The entire back area is various food vendors. Tattoos and haircuts available as well.

There's the Treasures in the Attic(?) near clairmont/PIB. Its kind of like stepping through a hoarder's attic, but a wide range of things from thrift store type finds to the occasional vintage gem, and lots of older furniture. I have been to Treasure Hunt & the places I listed as antiques/collectibles are along the same lines (except the Bennett St/14th St/Scotts).

When my husband was in Germany he said it was a tradition to put out any of your unwanted goods on certain days of the month. So people would scavenge what they wanted then the donations truck would take away the leftovers. I agree with Atlantagreg30127-- integrating farmer's markets/artist's markets and offering cheap "yard sale" tables for people to rent would probably be very popular in places (especially where HOAs frown upon yard/estate sales, or for people who live deep in a neighborhood that can't scare up traffic).

Another interesting hit or miss is Turnage Place at 711 Trabert in West Midtown, near the water treatment plant. They run a lot of estate sales in the area and this is their warehouse where various vendors keep booths as well. They will bring several unsold items to future estate sales so you may see the same things at several houses. They will have big clearance sales at their warehouse and you never know if you will find a $30,000 chandelier or the perfect $1 Christmas tree topper.

Default Best "Modern" Antique store!

Have any of you been to Circa Antiques in Tyrone GA just off I-85 South of Atlanta! This place is a gem and is home to several of my "FAVORITE" Scott Antique Market South building vendors... Also it is located right down the street from Scott Antique Market North building's own "junkology" these two stores are within walking distance and worth the drive from the North side of Atlanta!
