Buford Highway resturants and markets serves all the types of foods that the more fru-fru parts of town serve at three times the price and watered down for american tastes, but a lot of folks won't know that because it is "trashy."

Default Late to the Party!

I'm four years too late to help with the article, but I used to spend a LOT of time on Buford Highway. First, there was a great motorcycle shop up the road called Yamaha Triumph of Doraville, and second, I used to have a lovely girlfriend named Kim Cook who lived on Pin Oak just off the highway. I miss her very much as she was the first girl I ever kissed - alas, I broke her sweet heart - what a foolish youth I was back then.

Random comments: Treasure Island was the Target of the 1970's. There was a Krystal in the parking lot which was a great place to stop after work, unless you worked AT Krystal, like I did.

There was another discount store in the next shopping center over to the east called Grants. It was like K-Mart without the frills. Unfortunately my father loved it so it was where all our clothes, furniture, appliances, electronics, etc. came from. I can't remember where the K-Mart was but I think there was one of those nearby as well because I worked there, too.

Along with Grants, that strip mall held a Jerry Lewis Mini Cinema, and PIX Shoes where I also worked. Evidently I saw Buford Highway as a gold mine for a teenager.

I can only wonder what a store that removed all the pesky frills that plague K-Mart looked like.

I used to live at the Northbrook Garden Apts on the Buford Hwy, back in the late 60's, I believe, when I was in elementary school. My mom and I lived in one of the townhouses which I loved. Anyone know of these particular apts?? Thanks!
