Hi, I've been searching and reading this forum for a couple weeks now, thanks for all the great info. I'm moving to Atlanta soon, and I'm looking for some good leads on finding apartments for rent. I've seen the usual suspects:

craigslist
rent.com
for-rent.com
apartments.com

and I've heard a couple good things about some apartment-finding services:

promove.com
apartmentfinder.com
apartmentsforatlanta.com

If you have any personal experieces to share, or sites to add to these lists, please post 'em up.

I'd also welcome advice from other young professional transplants -- I'm 27, single, male, coming from Buffalo, NY to take a job in Norcross that involves some travel. I'm not sure if getting to the airport will be an issue, but I can always park at a MARTA station and take the train, right? I'm leaning towards a single bedroom apartment in a complex in Dunwoody with a pool and a gym, at least until I get a feel for other neighborhoods. From what I've read, Dunwoody is close enough to get downtown, with plenty to offer locally, I can get to work in Norcross without too much traffic, and starting out in a large complex is a great way to meet people.

Thanks!

You would be very happy in Dunwoody. You'd have a reverse commute to work (and not a long one either). You'll also be in an area with a ton of young professionals, shopping options, restaurants, etc. And highway access is great- you're close to 400/85/285.

In terms of apt search, you've got all the main sites covered. Good luck!

Smile I Agree

I Agree, Dunwoody is a great area. There are some reasonable apartments in that area and lots of shopping, dining, some night life, close to Atlanta. There are some good deals on condos in that area too- either to rent or to buy. Too much inventory makes for a great buyers market. Let me know if you need help!

Look near Perimeter Mall at the new developments there or at the Post apartments there. Condos are on sale and apartments are plentyful. All are near Dunwoody and offer convience and close to night life as well as close to your work.

There's a lot of privately owned condos on craigs list for Dunwoody/Sandy Springs. You'll get a better deal there then the upscale dorms along perimeter. However, you can save big bucks renting a house in and around Norcross, though the neighborhoods are not as nice. Then you can spend that extra money going out in perimeter, buckhead, and other areas of Atlanta. Depends on what you can afford and how you want to spend your money. I'd rather have money for going out than for having a fancy apt. Your not going to attact anyone stading on your front porch.
