Lingerie boutiques:
Irvine: 5
JC: 0

JC residents are deeply concerned that the presence of a lingerie shop might corrupt their children and decrease their home values.

Is it working? I dunno .

Panda, thanks. I sort of sense that is the case with Johns Creek. I'm very familiar with Irvine so can certainly see the appeal of Johns Creek....all that's missing is the Anteaters!!

I hope that Johns Creek does not follow Irvine in terms of its corruption. Irvine is a very different place today than it was in the 1990s. I like the 1990 version of Irvine, not the 2010 version. I don't think Irvine had any lingerie boutiques back in the 90s. Recently has been some red towel high end Asian prostituion activity in Irvine. I don't think you
will see this type of corrupt activity in Johns Creek for atleast if not in the next 10-15 years.

Nobody would be against a Cosabella (lingerie) boutique, even JC.

Seriously every house on my street owns a brand new C or S class Benz or a 5 or 7 series BMW. My next door neighbor owned a toyota camry and an acura so I thought we could be friends. Last week he just traded in his camry for a brand new 5 series.

I try to keep my garage door closed at all times so my neighbors don't see my 7 year old Volkswagon Jetta that i drive lol!
Remember just because they have a nice car does not mean they have more money then you! You know how affordable those cars are.........if you lease!

Lease specials are great but the cars are very noticeable on the road as well w/ halogen lamp on a 328 and a 528 with donut rims and tires.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for all of the information. It sounds like Decatur would be much like where we currently reside. Johns Creek/Alpharetta area along with Roswell sound like areas we need to explore.

My husband works in IT -- program manager on large software/web releases. He is currently doing this in the healthcare industry.

I am surprised that none of you mentioned Marietta or East Cobb as an option -- was this due to the fact that the area is more conservative than Alpharetta/Johns Creek? Or other reason? I've heard they have good schools.

Also, interesting that Johns Creek has the some of the best schools in the state, given that it seems to be a fairly newly established/developed town. Is it due to less overcrowding? Or do they have more funding somehow? Or is it the socioeconomic make up of the residents driving the good performance? Just interested in how that happens.

Any additional info appreciated. And thanks again for the comments so far.

Given that your husband works in IT just cements the fact, in my mind, that N. Fulton would be perfect for you. As one of the previous posters said, most IT jobs are concentrated around the 400 corridor (exits 7-11) and Dunwoody/Sandy Springs. I am not that familiar with the Cumberland area, but I assume that there are ample IT jobs over there as well.

To be candid, I have no idea why E. Cobb was not mentioned.

About good schools, Johns Creek is a wealthy area, so that helps to a certain degree. Also, Northview has a lot of Asians, which helps propel it to the top. I don't know the demographics of the other schools.

I suspect the Cumberland area has plenty of IT jobs (Weather Channel, Home Depot, TravelPort, Sprint, etc.), but East Cobb is not exactly known as a bastion of liberal thought. Also, while Smyrna/Vinings/Mableton are nice areas from a housing perspective and good elementary schools, I'm not as confident about the other schools in the area. Marietta proper might be fine ... I've heard good things about Marietta High School.
