I think you're going to sell yourself short, by looking in certain areas if you don't have a job, especially w/those 2 cities. they are kinda far out, so if you or your husbands job is close to Atlanta, your going to hate the commute. At the moment, I have a 40 minute commute each way, off peak hours. It's no big deal, but after I secure a better job, I will move closer to it. Having a long commute isn't good especially if you have kids. What if something happens and your at work and the kids are at school? you can't get them right away.

I have thought about that, and that's why I have started looking for jobs in the Buford/Cumming area. I would prefer not to work in Atlanta because of the long commute, but if we can't find jobs then we will have to look elsewhere.

Thank you all for the input! I appreciate it, please keep them coming!

He works at a Plastics factory and does Industrial Maintenance. Machine repair and etc. He has been doing it for about 10 years.

Seeing how there's not a huge manufacturing economy here, he really needs to find a job before you lock into an area- especially if he's the primary source of income.

We for sure will have a job locked in before moving. That is not an option. Just looking for the top 2/3 cities to apply. Not just willing to move anywhere...gotta check out the cities. Especially since we have 3 school age children. Education is very important to us.

You can look out in Cherokee County (Woodstock, Holly Springs, Canton) as well- great schools, affordable homes, and there's some small manufacturing out here. It's also close to Cobb County, where there's also some manufacturing.

Cumming is a nice area. The work scene here is pretty bad. My husband is in the electrical maintenance field and was just laid off. We are trying to move out of Georgia, but it is very hard to sell your house with the economy the way that it is. Good luck to you, but I would find a job first before I even thought about moving here. We can't wait to leave.

if you don't care about being close to atlanta, you might want to check out Athens, GA. Athens has more to offer than the atlanta suburbs and is close enough to atlanta to catch the occassional sporting event.
