Can anyone share their experiences or knowledge of Pace academy? When I visited I felt like us was very, very traditional and strict. Thoughts? My child will be going into 4th grade. Thanks so much.

Interesting. Pace (impression only) is traditional, but I am surprised to hear it described as strict. If you're looking for less traditional, make sure to take a look at Paidea (sorry if spelled wrong) or Galloway.

It was interesting. I visited Westminster as well and the feel was very different. I felt Westminster was less traditional in the elementary setting (much more traditional in the middle school though). I feel like my judgement might be off on Pace and that is the reason I am asking for experiences, thoughts, etc. here. Perhaps strict is not the right word. Maybe proper.

Thanks.

Hey, My daughter goes to Pace in the lower school. Westminster lower school does have a very dynamic new principal who is loosening the place up in great ways. However, Pace in general is thought of as not as strict a culture as Westminster. The lower school at Pace does have a culture where character matters. They do emphasize manners as the first step in being other-centered, I would say. Is it overly strict? Not at all! It is such a warm and loving place. I cannot say enough good things about the culture. The current lower school principal may come across as buttoned-up--but let me tell you, when my daughter was applying, and when she was struggling academically (possible dyslexia etc), I could pick up the phone and talk to this wonderful principal, as well as the teachers, any time. I have loved the atmosphere. They want to work with my child and are committed to our family. During the school day, my daughter is moving around the school, cooking, going outside, going on cool field trips. The small size of the school allows for a lot less structure than is possible in larger schools. Do the kids have to tuck their shirts in? Yes! Are they getting their hands dirty doing cool stuff all day long? YES!!! I hope this answers your question...
