I know how we can get a seat at the table Arjay, let's pool all our money together and buy us a few council members, state officials and go after some US congressman and Senators while we're at it. Last I checked Chambliss is trading low, b/c of his pending retirement, so don't know how much help he can be in the next year. The Ted Cruz IPO is coming out in August so I'm going to talk with some of my I-banking pals back home in TX to see if they get me in at a decent price before the IPO. Closer to home, one friend of mine that invests in politicians says that Kasim Reed stock at this point is like Google, too high for me to get into that game, can't even walk through the front door of City hall without your checkbook in tow, wait for a stock split, or two or three lol. Then just for kicks I asked about the President and the going rate for access there and he said, "Do you know the going rate of Berkshire Hathaway stock?", then I replied, "nuff said." The conversation ended with him suggesting I get an annuity with the governors office, b/c no matter who's in office you're guaranteed a certain amount of favors each year for the rest of your life.

Since we taxpayers are on the hook for at least 25% of the cost, you'd think that would buy us several prominent seats at the design table. Yet I haven't heard who among us will serve in that capacity and how the selection process will work.

Instead we seem to get little tidbits leaked here and there, with design decisions already made by persons unknown.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't the only taxpayers responsible for that 25% the ones that stay in hotels? Pretty sure that won't include most of us.

As I understand it the city of Atlanta -- i.e., taxpayers who live inside the city limits -- is backing the bonds.

We can pay for them with money we collect from the hotel tax, assuming that revenue stream is sufficient. If not, we're responsible for them individually.

The hotel/motel tax extends to COA and unincorporated Fulton County.

Common Cause has revealed some eye-popping numbers on the true contribution by taxpayers to this stadium.

If you use the city of Atlanta's projections, public funding will amount to $563 million. Using the GWCCA projections, the public contribution will come to $951 million.

Couldn't they just "cut off" the bonds at the $200 million mark rather than perpetual payment?

For 2-4 years before it is outdone.

How soon until Arthur the Welfare Queen sticks his handout for renovation money?
