Any further reactions to the re-striping of Ponce?

I've personally found it very positive.

Really wish we had more of this sentiment. Remember how much criticism the Ashford-Dunwoody diverging diamond received before it was completed? Yet it proved to be a resounding success and turned into a spectacular example of how government--wait for it--does sometimes get it right!

Has it really been a resounding success? According to a friend that lives in the area, there is hardly any noticeable improvement. I really have no clue so I'm just asking.

As a cyclist, its great. Better than I expected, with buffered bike lanes.

Ashford Dunwoody Diverging Diamond wins 3 awards - Atlanta Business Chronicle

Studies I've seen have placed traffic flow relief at about 20%.

cq, have you seen any photos that show Ponce after the restriping?

I could go take some but I am too lazy.

I know this is an old post but I feel like I should chime in here. I used to drive on that stupid thing a lot and I agree with your friend. It actually seemed to make traffic worse. They had a lot of self-important celebrations and photo ops while it was being built, but then got really quiet when post-construction traffic study time came around. I have no idea what the results of that study even were, but I'd like to see them.

I'm sure the lane changes on Ponce will work out fine though. Center turn lanes work really well, especially for people coming out of driveways. Most people think more lanes = faster flow, but there are MANY other factors at play. Light timing is probably most important of all.

Yes, I've driven it and am impressed. I was just trying to explain to someone how it works.

Traffic on Ponce is WAY worse during the day since the bike lines were added.

AND, I don't see any bikes using them during the day....
