And no way is the City of Brookhaven taking Cross Keys High.
I was thinking of existing school systems. Creating a new system is still just a bill in the gold dome.

I'm not getting why Tucker would incorporate instead of just becoming part of one of these other cities.

That option has never been offered by Lakeside, nor, I predict, will it be. Even if it had, why would Tucker, a place with over a hundred years of identity and history join a place that has no real identity other than as the attendance zone for a high school?

From 1895. Notice what is and, more importantly, what is NOT on this map?

Well, that's a good point. I just figured that since they'd been there forever and had not incorporated they weren't that interested in it. But things do change.

The cityhood movement is a pretty recent trend. It wasn't until fairly recently that the county started having problems. That's why there was no push for incorporation in Tucker until the '00s. Believe it or not, it's pretty easy to find people who live in Tucker, even people who have lived there a long time, who are surprised to find out that Tucker is not a city.

If that is what Tucker wants then I don't see why they shouldn't have it.

I think the problem is that counties have too much power in GA. Counties don't need to be taking taxes to provide expensive services to rural areas. Most states you have private / community run utilities / or personal septic tanks or the like instead of having the county having to provide all of that to those outside of cities. That is the real problem IMO. Counties in Georgia duplicating services that should be provided by cities.

For all these area that want to take their money, start their own city, and have nothing to do with Dekalb, will they have their own separate Fire Department and Police Department as well too or will they expect Dekalb County to come to their rescue in a time of need?
