Hi all, I'm trying to gauge the commute from a possible home in Perimeter area to work in Marietta. Is it a 30-45 minute commute (work by 8 and out at 5)? Or is it more/less at those times?

I appreciate the help!

There will likely be some congestion getting out of the Perimeter area, but you should be in really good shape once you head into Marietta. Of course it depends on where you'll be living in the Perimeter and where you'll be going in Marietta (big place), but it sounds like you have a good thing going on commute wise. With a little practice, you can decide exactly what time to leave that will minimize school buses and what not that could slow you down in Marietta. Sweet!

It depends on what part of Marietta you will be commuting to as the area with a Marietta mailing address encompasses a fairly large land area.

From some parts of Marietta (like from parts of the Johnson Ferry Road corridor in East Cobb below GA 120 Roswell Road closest to Fulton County), a one-way rush hour commute can be made from (and to) the Perimeter area within about 30 minutes or so on many days.

But to other parts the area with a Marietta mailing address (like from West Cobb), a one-way rush hour commute from (and to) the Perimeter area can take as long as 45 minutes or more on some days.

It all depends on in what part of Marietta you will be living.

Thanks so much! Not quite sure exact location in Perimeter area, but commuting to/from work on Wildwood Parkway in Marietta.

Thanks again - I really appreciate it!

Should be a pretty reasonable drive for you as you don't have to go all the way to I-75. I know it's packed from Perimeter over to that area in the afternoons, so in the afternoon at least, you'll have an almost reverse-peak commute with some congestion around GA-400. Using this morning's traffic data, it showed a thirteen minute commute from Perimeter over to Wildwood which is pretty good.

Not really, the top end of I-285 is bad both ways in the afternoon and definitely around 5pm. The morning portion wouldn't be bad though.

To the OP, assuming you are talking about close to Perimeter Mall with easy access to I-285 I would guess about 20 minutes in the morning and 30-40 in the afternoon.

I-285 doesn't get bad until a bit before GA-400, which I said. But by then, you're almost back at Perimeter.

Doesn't matter how close you are when you are sitting still in traffic. I used to live off Cobb Parkway and my girlfriend at the time lived at Perimeter, it was always a pain going that way after work. The diverging diamond at the Perimeter exit may have made it a bit better since then but I can't imagine it making that much of a difference since 400 is the problem.

Eh, 285 isn't that bad. The worst of 285 is between 75 and 85.
