while the beltline rail will be grade separated, it will still be accessible to cyclists and pedestrians. for safety issues, i can't imagine that they would allow the vehicles to travel at such high speeds. i'm not putting it down, though, as it will certainly be sufficient and game-changing transit for all of the area it covers, save for possibly west midtown (which it barely touches).

that's generally what i'm trying to communicate. buckhead village needs an HRT station. the concerns you raise are important, and could certainly end up being project-killers. my question is, why hasn't there been at least a discussion of the possibilities from MARTA?

I think a light rail line from Lindbergh station up to the Buckhead Village and then on around to the MARTA stations would be a good thing. The original plan needs a few tweaks but it was not bad.

In the future I could see a line that connects with the Beltine at Bennett street heads up to the village.

Phase 5 of the streetcar system has the Peachtree streetcar line running from downtown to buckhead.

Isn't that planned for about 30 or 40 years from now?

Because it would cost well over a billion dollars to run an HRT tunnel under Peachtree Road in Buckhead and would basically duplicate the existing North Line.

I bet politics will push the project up. At some of the meetings I have been to they hinted they might even add a section of the Peachtree Streetcar into this next phase. It even showed up on the route maps they were working to finalize.

If I'm not mistaken the Beltline runs about a mile from the Village, why just extend it on up?
