What is it like?
I'll be soon moving to the Atlanta area and number 3 on my to do list is to find a reliable gym, possibly a personal fitness trainer(i don't mind $$).
I am moving from South Florida where every BODY is off the chain( O.K maybe not every body lol ) so it's a cultural thing!
I did a zip code search for a few fitness chains , but...
Could some of you recommend a few good places/ independent trainer( a hot male trainer would help) based on your own experience?

Thanks.

While there are definitely people who spend tons of time in the gym here, it's not likely that you'll find it to be the same level as in South Florida.

And as a result you'll probably spend less time in one, too. Besides, Atlanta has so many nice weather days who wants to spend time in a germy gym? A lot of people get out and go for a jog or a bike ride or head up to the mountains for a hike or kayaking.

The gym culture is definitly less important here.

Where should you go?

Where are you going to be living? There are LA Fitnesses all over...they seem to be the most popular. If you're lucky your place of work or apartment complex might have a fitness center...

Most personal trainers work for a specific gym. Not too many gyms allow independents. There are personal trainers that don't use gyms at all, like boot camp style trainers.

Again, figure it by zip code. That's how you should do most things in Atlanta. Commuting is hell here.

I train with www.leanbodiesconsulting.com

Noel Clark is in Atlanta and trains locally. She is a national level figure competitor and is also certified as a trainer.

I moved from South Florida last year and was lucky enough to find something that is unconventional from your typical gym workout. It is a cross between pilates, yoga, martial arts and works your muscles layer by layer. It is not a mindless workout. You use your own body weight as weights, there is no music and will get your heartrate up in about 3 minutes. It is also highly lymphatic, and the more you do it, the less you have to do it. Less is more with this workout once you get it. Sorry, I know I sound like a informercial, but I am addicted for life!

You can read more at Better Body Basics - T-Tapp.com The trainer here in the Atlanta area is Renee. She is just the best.
