Well after 2 years of planning it looks like I'll be moving here from California around November 1st. I am looking for a gym that keeps it's facilities up and has a lot of equipment and is pretty fair sized. I don't mind crowds as long as people are friendly. I usually work out at my gym at the busiest hours so I am used to it.
Does anyone have a gym they recommend or one they avoid?
Thanks. I'm pretty excited to start my new life in Atlanta.

Life Time Fitness

I believe there are three locations that could work for you:

Alpharetta
Johns Creek
Sandy Springs

Lifetime would be your best bet, but it's very expensive.

Lifetime Fitness is awesome, you will definitely be sold when you visit.

It's huge, clean, has amazing pools and hot tubs, towel service, and it's 24 hour. This gym has everything you could want and more.

BUT, you'll eventually get tired of paying $80 a month. You'll start doing the math in your head and figuring out how much each visit costs and determine that as great as it is, it's just not worth it. At least, that's what happened to me. I still miss it sometimes, though.

Lifetime at the upper end
LA Fitness in the mid tier
and if you're just looking for basics, the local county rec center will usually have a gym for less than $10 per month.

I second this. Life Time is a nice facility.

You're paying 80? I'm paying 150 for a family membership. Is your membership a family membership? I go to Sandy Springs. What the heck is going on here?

How does Lifetime Fitness compare to LA Fitness?

Could someone do a breakdown, pros/cons of each? (Compare/contrast, etc.)
