Also, the City of Atlanta wouldn't allow it and GDOT isn't stupid enough to try to run roughshod over them, nor do they have an interest in doing so.
Makes you wonder if the GDOT has lost its fangs. This on top of the bike lane fiasco.

No, their leadership no longer believes in destroying neighborhoods to get their way. The bike lane fiasco was due to Buckhead elites getting involved and telling their political cronies that oversee the agency to pressure GDOT into caving.

Some of the folks in Buckhead are still sore about them ramming a superslab down the throat of the residential neighborhoods. The locals fought like crazy but in those days there was little to do once the big boys made up their minds.

We're talking about Atlanta, not Philadelphia or NYC. This is the Atlanta forum.

Funny how this prediction that someone (the feds? the state? dunno, but definitely someone) is going to force the city to allow... someone... to build commuter rail tracks on the city's land doesn't come with any kind of expiration date. That's the best kind of prediction. It can't ever be proven wrong, just delayed.

If there were any serious push to build commuter rail on the Eastside Trail, then Amtrak and GDOT would never have agreed to abandonment of the corridor for the Beltline years ago.

All I can tell you guys right now is that the 2019 World Series will be won in 6 games, by a team that wears blue. Not at liberty to discuss further.
