Well, in my case I didn't go primarily for food. Food helps. I went because I thought people I knew would be there. Turns out, even they did not go.

I'm sure it's been discussed, but I'm curious what this $40 got you? A $40 price tag on a food truck festival would pretty much guarantee that I would not be attending. I don't think I could eat $40 worth of tacos.

That's just to get in the gate. Anything you ate or drank once inside had to be paid for on top of the $40.

Someone said the wristband came loaded with some money on it, but nobody could answer when I asked how much money, so I can only conclude that the answer was $0.

They could learn from the organizers of the annual Oakhurst Wine Crawl. They only sell a limited number of tickets in advance and then band ticketholders on the day of the event. That way the participating vendors can anticipate the ebb and flow not to mention the number of patrons to anticipate. Every crawl I've attended ran as smoothly as silk, and l certainly got my money's worth LOL.
