Interesting. I'd never heard them when I stayed in Lithia Springs and in COA near the airport.

Most places east of the Rocky Mountains would be recommended to have weather sirens. Just because Atlanta hasn't seen a major severe weather episode in a minute does not mean they are not needed. This is the funny thing is like the Carolinas, this area is so passe about severe weather then people freak out when it happens. It's better to have the things in place than nothing at all.

I've never heard any go off here in intown Atlanta.

Where I'm from in Detroit, the sirens are actually tested every first Saturday of the month at noon.

I think Cobb tests their on the first Wed of every month. They have a bunch:
